The Full Story

Tyson Carma Band

The Tyson Carma Band is a studio band that utilizes various musicians from around the globe,

to contribute to music recorded by sending tracks back and forth until we have a completed

song.  The main emphasis is good solid rock songs with depth and meaning.

There are so many influences that are involved in creating the music, as a unit doing a job,

its music that we grew up with and learned our craft.  Personally I can say that bands like The Beatles, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk Railroad, The Zombies, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Byrds, The Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Ozzy Osbourne to name a few, all had an influence into what we create.  I also like Three Days Grace, The Cult, Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, Dream Theater, Big Wreck, Thornley and other newer bands.

The lyrics are based on life experiences and everyday encounters.  From love gained to love lost. Love is ultimately what holds us all together.  Below are the songs you can listen to right here along with a few videos.

      Biography – Tyson Carma

Tyson Carma’s musical journey began early. In elementary school, he studied piano with Mrs. Armstrong while also playing in his first band, The Second Hand Band. The group learned and performed songs they heard on the radio, drawing inspiration from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and Jefferson Airplane.

In high school, Tyson formally studied music and learned to play the trumpet, but his true passion lay with the guitar and bass—both of which he taught himself. After graduation, he joined the military, where he continued to perform with a variety of bands while serving his country.

When his military service ended, Tyson pursued music full-time, working steadily across blues, country, and rock and roll bands. His talent and versatility gave him the opportunity to share stages with major acts, including Mick Taylor of The Rolling Stones, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Mark Farner of Grand Funk, Doug and The Slugs, and Glass Tiger.

Outside of performing, Tyson also developed a career in live theatre, serving as a production manager, technical director, and sound and lighting technician. After shows, he often joined the late-night jams at Toronto’s legendary Matador club, where he played alongside Canadian icons such as Johnny Lovesin, Blue Rodeo, and Stompin’ Tom Connors. These jam sessions kept his playing sharp and his creativity alive.

Tyson also spent significant time in the studio. One of his most notable projects was with the Tyson Carma Band, collaborating with Randy Bachman (The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive) on a remake of Can’t You See by The Marshall Tucker Band. The collaboration—done remotely by exchanging tracks through email—resulted in both vocal and instrumental versions, released in 2011. The instrumental track went on to be featured by Brightside Media in the U.K. for a documentary about the iconic Kawasaki KZ900 motorcycle.

From his earliest piano lessons to playing with rock legends, Tyson Carma’s career has been a testament to lifelong dedication, versatility, and passion for music.
